| Genoa, Sandwich Park Districts Receiving $400T Each from State |
|
The Genoa Township and Sandwich Park districts are each receiving $400,000 in state grants. The Genoa Township Park District will be using the money to improve Chamberlain Park on East Second Street. Plans include adding baseball and soccer fields, a walking path, and a fishing platform. The Sandwich Park District is going to use its money to develop six-acres of land next Milestone Park on North Castle Street. A walking trail will be included as well as sports fields, and a splash pad. The park district will need to match the money they’re receiving from the state, and both say they can do that by issuing bonds. A total of $17-million is being given to park districts through the state’s Open Space Land Acquisition and Development program.
