| Hynes Doesn't Want to be Lt. Gov. |
|
Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes says he will not appear on the Democratic Ticket as the Lieutenant Governor candidate this fall. Despite reports that indicated Hynes would consider replacing Scott Lee Cohen who dropped out of the race, Governor Pat Quinn said Monday Hynes is not interested. Quinn said that's the message Hynes relayed during a breakfast meeting. Cohen gave in to pressure from the party to drop out Sunday night, after reports surfaced of a domestic abuse arrest following his primary victory. The Democratic State Central Committee will choose Cohen's replacement. Names bandied about include State Representative Art Turner, who finished second to Cohen in the primary. State Representative Mike Boland and State senators Terry Link and Ricky Hendon also ran for the post in the primary.
